Daily Poem

Addicted to your love
Pain surrounds me
Like an addict who tasted the vice for the first time, I could not let go of you
Your smile consumed me and your laughter filled me with joy I had never known.
When I was away from you I felt the sharp ache of withdrawals.
Every day I needed to see your smile just to feel saved again
Saved from the emptiness in my heart
Saved from the desolation that shadowed my entire life
You were an oasis in the desert of my own soul
In your presence, I could drink from the heavenly streams of your love.
Without you, what meaning does my existence hold?
Why did God put me in this world.
Only to let me taste love and then endure the pain of its absence?
